Turmeric Milk – Haldi Doodh

Turmeric milk, known for its anti -viral effects, is used to treat colds and flu or as a hot tonic. My mother gives me this remedy when I’m feeling a little under the weather with the sniffles. You can use ground or dried sliced turmeric, or fresh turmeric root.

COOKING TIME: 5 MINUTES
SERVES 1

250ml semi-skimmed or full cream milk
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp runny honey (optional)

1   Place the milk in a saucepan and bring to the boil. Add the turmeric, stir and leave to infuse for a minute.
2   Strain into a cup and mix in the honey, if using. Serve hot and sip a little at a time.
